R-84 is the system originally called Rio-Tigre named after the river in the Osa peninsula in Costa Rica where the author made a number of visits.
This system takes inspiration from cyclic nature of the flow of water from clouds to the sea and all the phases.
The system was developed on a mainframe computer using the Multics operating system which was considered one of the most sophisticated operating system of all.
The precursor for this system was R76 developed at the Utrech Studios for Electronic Music.
R84 was developed in conjunction with AX1b and indeed the developed parts of it were written in AX1b.
The R also refers to its nature as a real-time system - that is able to maintain is integrity in the analog field as well - being fundamentally a classic hybrid system.
A reduced version of this system R83 was used in most of the recent compositions of Electronic Music and Empirical Metaphysics- and it is this version that is being prepared for release.
R88F is the growth of this system where the integration of the analog control is maintained through FPGA designs. There are major developments in this system, encompassed in the bedrock of REEF - being prepared for broader applications.
